Odd Duck A1, Monday night

Romeo was sprawled on his bed writing in his poetry journal, and wondering if bunnies could read.

Of course, the bunny his girlfriend had become had chomped through half a bag of pretzels, curled up in a little shoebox nest he had made for her and gone to sleep, so the point was moot. But it was still something to ponder.

"She didn't turn around," Romeo shrugged, but he was just as happy to change the subject, really. As he'd said, he was out of his depth.

"The bunny is happy," he said firmly. "She owes Professor Deadpool baked goods for missing class, and she got to play chase with Aravis. Who is a leopard." He took on a puzzled air. "Do you think they might have all gotten bitten, somehow or by something?"

"Hard to say, yo. After turnin' into a chocobo for like half a freakin' week, I'm convinced that the island itself is laughin' at us all. I'm probably not the guy to ask."

"Oh, don't go remindin' it," Reno replied, his voice very nearly a hushed whisper.

It was entirely possible that yes, he was convinced that the island was out to get them. "See, now it's gonna try to work that into its schedule or somethin'. 'Make Romeo an ugly rat again. For shits an' giggles.'"

"Better an ugly rat than a retarded chicken," Reno decided as the ball of paper bounced off of his shoulder. "Which I probably shouldn't say, either. Now I'm givin' it ideas."

Okay, he was almost smiling again, now.

Really, it was difficult to discuss playing dress-up with your best friend, the rodent, without smirking at least a little bit.

Reno idly straightened the goggles resting on his forehead, still with that little smirk on his face.

"The goggles are an important accessory. I'd be shocked an' hurt if the island ever took 'em away."

They totally didn't come off. Unless Reno himself willed them to. Or something like that.

He was big on goggle-kinetics?

... Maybe not.

"I don't know," he replied, and there he went all over again, shrugging. "I'll sleep on it or somethin'. Maybe figure out... Stuff."

Maybe figure out what had set it all off in the first place. That would be nice.
